It was Michel de Montaigne who once said, "I quote others only to better express myself." Benjamin Disraeli put it this way: "The wisdom of the wise and the experience of the ages are perpetuated by quotations."
Either way you look at it, quotations have a value which should not be underestimated. They can make you see things in ways you hadn't thought of before, and they can be very amusing, too. For these reasons, I have been keeping a collection of quotes for a number of years now. I found many of them in my books of quotations, which include:

In the interest of sharing this pastime with others, I have gathered over 300 of these quotes into a HyperCard stack. They have been divided into seven parts and each part has its own background design.
Here are a few points to consider:
1) Moving the cursor around a card will turn it into a "clicker" when it's over a button. This will help you find transparent ones with surprises on the title card of certain parts.
2) The open-book icon on the "Title" card is the "Quotations Stack Tour" button. Clicking this will give you a feel for the stack. (Pressing command-period interrupts the tour.)
3) On the title card of the "Definitions" part, clicking the title will show a field with the words defined in this part, and a Find Box. Keying in a word and pressing Enter will find the quote(s). Continuing to press Enter will display quotes containing this word in other parts. You can use this method to find quotes on any subject that interests you.
4) If you wish to edit the quotes, there are transparent buttons — they don't spoil the design — on the quote cards that lock and unlock the fields. The "clicker" will show you where they are (also pressing command-option). These buttons will be handy if you decide to add new cards for your own quotations.
5) There is a "Quotes" menu which will provide you with easy access to the various features mentioned above.
